Impact Finance Network (IFN)
We are partnering with Anglo American and Moquegua Crece to execute the Impact Finance Network program in Peru. This initiative offers Investment Readiness training to businesses in Southern Peru dedicated to creating social or environmental impact.
¿WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Impact Finance Network (IFN) breaks down barriers between impact companies and investors to accelerate access to impact investing.
The IFN It is a pilot project that the Anglo American mining company, through the collaborative development initiative Moquegua Crece, of which it is a part, brings to southern Peru after its successful implementation in other countries around the world such as South Africa and Chile.
It is aimed at companies that generate social or environmental impact, seek financing and need to overcome the difficulties of finding suitable investment allies.
The IFN is a fundamental part of Anglo American's activities to achieve the objectives of its Sustainable Mining Plan by supporting economic diversification and the creation of job opportunities beyond the mining industry.
WHICH COMPANIES DOES THE IFN SUPPORT AND WHAT DOES IT OFFER THEM?
Innovative businesses that generate social or environmental impact, are seeking investment, and operate in the regions of Moquegua, Arequipa, Tacna or Puno, or that have clear plans to expand to the Moquegua region through the investment sought within 12 months of the closing of the investment.
The IFN provides, free of charge, support or technical assistance to help selected companies prepare to receive investments and engage with investors.
WHAT CAN THE IFN DO FOR YOUR COMPANY?
Identify what you need to receive investments.
Provide specific assistance to address gaps and thereby improve your preparation to receive investments.
Offer access to investment opportunities, with the necessary experience to obtain funds.
Provide the opportunity to connect with the right investor for your business.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
The Impact Finance Network provides a complete technical assistance program for those companies that are looking for investment. The program focuses on closing the gaps that companies may have to be eligible for investment, connecting them with suitable investors and supporting them in an eventual process of closing an agreement.
Preselection
In this stage, companies complete an initial application form providing basic information about the business model, the management team, the impact of the operation, and the investment project. The IFN team verifies the company's compliance with the Selection Criteria and evaluates the applications.
Selection
At this stage, the company's state of preparation to receive investment is evaluated. For this purpose, detailed information is requested from the company about its business model, strategy, operations and growth plan. Likewise, specific documentation is requested (business plan, company presentation, financial statements, financial model, impact indicators). The main gaps are identified to focus the personalized technical assistance program and the companies that will continue with the technical assistance program and contact with investors are selected.
Technical Assistance and Contact with Investors
In this stage, the technical assistance plan is designed with each selected company with the objective of closing the identified gaps. The number of consulting hours per company depends on the degree of preparation identified.
The process of contacting investors begins with the objective of achieving connections between companies and aligned investors. If the interest of the investor and the company is achieved, the pre-investment process begins, the IFN team will be able to accompany the company in this process to expedite it.
In the second quarter of 2023, the IFN pilot was launched. Nine companies were selected. The process of technical assistance and contact with investors continues during the first quarter of 2024.
